Tatiana Shabelnik is a Belarusian-American fashion designer, educator, web designer, and librarian deeply committed to the mission of Rotary International: “Service Above Self.” Born in Belarus, Tatiana began her professional journey as a full-time faculty member at the Belarusian University of Culture and Arts before moving to the United States in 1994 on a prestigious USIA (IREX) graduate scholarship. She earned her Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) at Louisiana State University and completed Ph.D. coursework in Rhetoric and Technical Communications at Michigan Technological University. At the beginning of her professional career in the United States, Tatiana was an intern at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., an experience that helped shape her international perspective in library science, research, and information technology.

Over the course of her accomplished career in higher education, Tatiana served as a librarian, faculty member, and strategic web manager at institutions including Michigan Technological University, Whittier College, Rio Hondo College, and Claremont McKenna College, where she retired in 2019. After working for over 17 years in library science and more than 24 years in strategic web design and development in higher education, Tatiana chose to fully dedicate herself to her lifelong passions of fashion design, photography and community service.

Alongside her professional achievements, Tatiana has remained deeply involved in Rotary since first participating as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Holland in 1992–1993. She officially joined the Rotary Club of Pico Rivera in 2006 and served as Club President in 2010–2011, leading both local and international humanitarian initiatives, including Baby Heart and Rotaplast, while representing Rotary District 5300 at the 2011 Pasadena Rose Parade. Since March 25, 2025, Tatiana has also been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Laguna Niguel.
